As mentioned, first time cosplayer here. Was inspired by our latest visit to FanExpo in Toronto. Was thinking of what I could come up with that would be comfortable but recognizable, and came up with Duke! A quick google search and I wound up here! I am focusing on the 1984 mail-in action figure for reference. Have a shopping cart full of stuff with a milsurp website (just waiting for cash to PAY for it all). Prop weapons will be the hardest for me, but will cobble together what I can. My goal is to maybe be ready for Toronto ComicCon in March, definatly ready for next FanExpo. Will show pictures as I get the pieces together. Always open to advice! YO JOE
1st update: I know itâs like working on the icing before I bake the cake, but I got the jump wings, and ordered a set of Vietnam era dog tags, using the information on the âfile cardâ. Itâs a little thing, but it was inexpensive and a step forward!
Sounds like youâre off to a good start. As a reminder prop weapons are 100% not required for Finest membership, so feel free to put those at the bottom of your shopping list.
Have the pants, just got the shirt (pics on the weekend). Found a website that sells uniform items, found long sleeve shirt with the right pockets. Getting excited!
So, kind of stalled out on thisâŚboots are the most expensive. Have a list of items saved on a surplus site, letâs see what Christmas brings us. Having a hard time with the round belt buckle. Most everything else I am basing on Vietnam era surplus (even looked at Korea-era as well) but all the gun belts have rectangular clip fasteners. Anyone found (or made) the round buckle?
DID IT!
Ordered the boots, and found an inert âlemonâ grenade. Anxious to get this together!
The round belt buckle still baffles me, as everything else has a âreal worldâ solution. I think I might see about a 3d printed buckle just for show.
