New recruit reporting in, trying to get my kit situated from the armory. Im in Ohio, looking to join the 8th Corvus Squadron there. Their facebook group seems to be hidden though. Anyone know how I can get in touch with them or invite me to it? Is it down?
Additionally, I have a question, as Im getting my costume situated and I want to make sure something I am planning on doing will be approved by command staff, and I will be allowed to join when I submit an application, before I spend all the money on it. I plan on changing one thing from the manual; The shirt. I’ve seen others try this, and others complimented how much easier it is:

I was planning on using this newer generation combat shirt, instead of the one in the reference material.
- It’s much easier to fit the logo to the center and not have to create a flap and send it off to a seamstress.
- it’s much cheaper, I don’t have to buy two shirts.
- It’s cleaner and the logo fits over the chest perfectly. Theres no need to have a flap, since it’s got a clean front.
- It matches a reference of the newer generation cobra trooper figures. V15, from 2011. Seen here: 2011 30TH ANNIVERSARY G.I. JOE COBRA ENEMY TROOPER V15 LOOSE 100% COMP – THE G.I. JOE SHOP @ ONESTOPJOESHOP.COM
- It has velcro places on both shoulders to fit the logos and unit or rank patches on either arm without the need to iron or embroidery
- The collar zips up, allowing the mask to be tucked in easier.
- More modern and up to date look.
- Most importantly, it’s from Propper, the same brand and color as the required pants, so it should match effectively with the other bits of the uniform and other troopers.
Would this be allowed? If not, I am prepared to get the shirt in the manual, but I saw this and had to bring it up if it hadn’t been already. I know I have no place here, but It would be cool if this was an accepted alternative, as it’s more accessible, easier, and cheaper, while also matching a canonical trooper uniform.
Also, it seems to be that the shirt in the manual has become quite dated, and is quite difficult to find now a days. Maybe Im just blind, but It took me a couple of hours to find one after having to dig around alot, while this newer combat shirt is more readily available and sold on Amazon.
